The surprise isn't that "Major Problems At Polls Feared," .... the surprise is that anyone thought it would be any different.
Why would the GOP and Bush administration, who likely stole two presidential elections without any serious challenges, want to change things?
No indeed, they would want to stack the deck even more in their favor..... "In the Nov. 7 election, more than 80 percent of voters will use electronic voting machines, and a third of all precincts this year are using the technology for the first time." (WaPo)
Most of these machines were engineered and manufactured by GOP-promoting corporations. And, independent tests, including a study by Princeton University, have shown that the "paperless" electronic voting machines can be rigged.
State election laws and systems are a muddle, registration rolls are problematic, and in many states, "the administration of elections remains in political hands..."
But, there is a way to combat and override these suspect machines and other election "imponderables."
ABSENTEE BALLOTS.
Contact your state election officials MONDAY. This may be your Secretary of State or State Elections Board.... get your hands on an absentee ballot. Then, use it. This may be the only way to make sure your vote counts in November!
