When you don't have a leg to stand on in an argument, change and skew the focus so the argument is about something else....something much more general and accepted.
Those spearheading the illegal immigration debate understand this concept very well.
Next Monday, May 1 (that's the Communist nations traditional day for parading their military) has been declared a "National Day Without Immigrants." As reported in The Des Moines Register, the United for Dignity and Safety of Immigrants coalition are among those sponsoring this day.
Let's state right now up front....NO ONE IS AGAINST IMMIGRANTS OR IMMIGRATION!
What we are against is illegal immigration. This is a vastly different matter, and the sponsors of NDWI know that very well. But they are selling, so don't bother them with facts.
Just who are the sponsors? One is the "tax exempt" Catholic Charities and Ministries. Shame on them. But their agenda is obvious. Most of the illegal immigrants are from Mexico and are Catholic. The more Catholics the church can turn into voting U.S. citizens, the more clout they will have with our laws.....a bigger footprint in our rich nation. Oh yes...this is about $$ and power.
Not to be outdone in misleading arguments, President Bush also weighs in with his distortions on the subject. He loudly declares, "Massive deportation of the [illegal] people here is unrealistic. It's just not going to work."
Well....duh. No one with common sense is suggesting this. What the legal, voting, taxpaying citizens are suggesting, actually demanding, is:
1. We secure our borders and ports to stop the flood of illegal immigrants and goods. This must happen first, and soon!
2. We impose heavy fines on employers who hire illegals to make it unprofitable to do so.
3. We stop providing medical care, education and other social services to illegal immigrants.
4. Fund all of the above and maintain tight oversight controls.
Only after all of these steps have been successfully implemented, put into place a system for aliens who want to come to this country to work to be able to do so legally, entering the country on an as-needed basis for short, but renewable, periods of time.
Why should we continue to allow the work of decades of U.S. legal citizens and immigrants to be sacrificed to illegals who want to crowd into line, demanding full rights and benefits they have not earned.
Some even have as their agenda taking over portions of our country to reclaim it for Mexico. This is nothing short of a virtual invasion by a foreign country!
It is up to us, the citizens, to make sure we preserve our national heritage and treasure. That our government enforces our laws and lives up to the oath to protect and defend our great nation.
What can we do?
First, call and/or email your Congressional representatives (see the left side of this page for contacts) and let them know you vote, and what you expect of them on the issue of illegals.
Second, on May 1 turn the tables and make it "Pay Day." Spend money. Make it a very profitable day for business and the U.S. economy. Money talks.
Third, any business that closes on May 1 to support or participate in NDWI will no longer have your business. Make that clear before and after May 1.
This is the time for action. We need to take our country back! Don't let the twisted rhetoric of those with anti-U.S. agendas prevail.
We're on to them....and we're mad!

The letter below is one of the best I've seen.
MR. PRESIDENT, I'M HEADED TO MEXICO

Dear President Bush:
I'm about to plan a little trip with my family an d extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.
I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.
So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and do not enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy. !
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.
However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P.
Thank you so much for your kind help.
Sincerely,
David M. Bresnahan
David, Thanks for your contribution. Ten years ago if someone had told you about our current situation with the illegal aliens in our country you would have found it laughable, not possible, ridiculous. Your "letter" perfectly points out the truly bizarre nature of our government's position. Our politicans have forgotten who they represent. Let's give them a big reminder in November.
