Enriched Uranium Bush Soul Food

President Bush, the Starry-eyed, gushed after his first date in 2001 with Russian President Putin, the Steely-eyed, "I was able to get a sense of his soul, a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country."

This "soul" pronouncement planted a deep if vague seed of uneasiness in the pit of the U.S. consciousness.

And this perhaps is why. It has surfaced this month as reported in the Washington Post that possibly "the Russians aided Saddam Hussein's government around the time of the U.S.-led invasion" of Iraq.

A newly released study clearly cites Iraqi documents from March 2003 that contain information allegedly provided to Hussein by Russian diplomats and intelligence officers.

It includes a three-page handwritten description of U.S. force deployments based on information allegedly provided by Russian Ambassador Titorenko along with a typed-eight page description of U. S. war plans dated March 25, 2003, also attributed to Titorenko.

The Russian soul in action.

Secretary of State Rice said she "will seek clarification from the Russian government."

That's it?

So now let's turn our attention to the new hot spot, Iran. They have crashed the "nuclear club" and announced a uranium enrichment program..

Rice the Clueless reassures a slumbering nation not to worry, diplomatic pressure will defuse the crisis.

Well....according to the China Daily, this is, or at least was, the plan....."China has expressed support for a plan to have Iran's uranium enriched in Russia as a way to end the global impasses over the republic's nuclear program." ....and that the European Union and the United States have previously given backing to the plan.

Well, of course that's the solution....we have looked into their soul, shared our battle plans and now we'll just let them supply Iran with enriched uranium.

So just what is the plan?....Iran's nuclear chief Aghazadeh just announced that Iran is prepared to give the West a share of Iran's enrichment facility management.

So will the U.S. be a partner in this management?.....when pigs fly!

Russia? Oh yes.

Let's keep an eye on this one.

My Friend Nima,

Thank you so much for your kind comments.

I am very impressed with your English ability, I apologize that I don't have such skills in your language.

I find the thoughts expressed in your blog to be very insightful.

By reaching out one-to-one across our nations and cultures there is always hope that we can learn to live in peace.

Your leader's repeated statements that Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth is very distressing and not helpful in the pursuit of peace. It only serves to heighten tensions in the Middle East, something which no one really wants.

Regardless, politics in every country are a complicated matter, and as you can see by my blogs, I certainly am not happy with many of the directions taken by our current leaders.

By press reports alone, it is very difficult to know always what to believe. Here, however, we can watch the proceedings of our Congress live and many of the Congressional hearings also. So to some extent we can judge for ourselves the truth of some issues. Is there anything similar there?

Public pressure through blogs, emails and telehone calls have thwarted some of the things the American public does not want our government to do, so that is some progress. Hopefully our November Congressional elections may be a start toward returning to our more traditional "checks and balances" system of governing.

I especially appreciate your explanations about the Persian and Iranian cultures and want to study that part of your blog as it is a complex and very interesting subject. Thanks for sharing.

I have bookmarked your blog and will certainly follow it with great interest.

In peace, TH
