Bush's May Day Mess

May 1.... a date that will live in Bush administration infamy.

Four years ago today a flight-suited Bush Texas-strutted onto the deck of the carrier the U.S.S Abraham Lincoln to the background of "Mission Accomplished".... and, today we see this headline, "April Toll Is Highest of '07 for U.S. Troops, Over 100 Killed in Month; Iraqi Deaths Far Higher."

And, there is no end in sight.

In a memoir book being released on this anniversary by former CIA Director, George Tenet, he belatedly confesses that the intelligence used for going to war was trumped-up.... the White House selectively used shaky intelligence to make its case for doing what it had planned from day one, and stampeded the country into the middle of a bloody and costly conflict between centuries-old religious and tribal factions in Iraq.

Also today, the Democratically-led congress will deliver to The Decider their legislation for the continued funding of the war with the provision for setting a timetable to start to bring our troops home. The Decider has vowed to veto the bill, he doesn't want any timetable for withdrawal.... it has to be his way or the highway.

Ironically, for this most lawless of any administration to disgrace our nation, it's also Happy Law Day! The Decider says in his 2007 Law Day proclamation that "Our Nation is built upon the rule of law."

Excuse me while I roll around laughing.....

The blizzard coming from the White House for the last six years is a legal snow-job.... signing statements asserting presidential authority to ignore whatever law The Decider had just approved.

And, Bush's Gonzales-led corporate-favoring Justice Department never met a law it couldn't break, circumvent or ignore.

For example, it's strictly an open-door policy for illegal immigrants trampling laws from the time they sneak across our borders to claim as a right their ruinous access to our health and educational institutions, while depressing wages, increasing crime and drug traffic, stealing identities, forging documents, and generally shredding our social support system.

In the latest display of their in-your-face lawlessness, nationwide today there are voter registration drives, meetings and marches "demanding a path to citizenship for an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants".... and of course their families, which will swell the number by many tens of millions more.

This is The Decider's rule of law! He makes the rules and breaks the laws.

On this date, May 1, 2007, the clear infamy is that "the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked" by amoral robber-barons masquerading as compassionate-conservative patriots.

According to estimates, the 12 million undocumented workers include their families as well.

Are you involved in the immigration issue? learn before critizing. I believe there has to be a solution to this problem, denial is making it worse.

I liked the rest of your post anyways.

Carlos, Thanks for your comment. I won't quibble about the number of illegal immigrants although 12 million is considered a number on the low side, 20 million being a truer number.

The family members I am talking about are the extended family stil living in their native country, i.e., parents, brothers and sisters, etc. This is what will swell the numbers.

I'm not involved in the issue, but I am a very concerned citizen.
