Fear-full GOP

The GOP has held the House for 12 years, the White House for six years, and also have the majority in the Senate. And our country has never been in a bigger, more dangerous, mess.

President Bush won in 2002 by the narrowest of (contested) electoral margins and didn't win the popular vote. Nevertheless, he installed a wrecking ball in the Oval Office and proceeded to lay waste to years of national and international gains as though he had an overwhelming mandate.

The voters are living with the results. And they aren't happy.

The WaPo reports that "More GOP Districts Counted as Vulnerable, Number Doubled Over the Summer." Is it any wonder. Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) sums up the six years of the Bush presidency as "an endless occupation and a wage-less recovery..." with nothing to offer but "fear."

Franklin D. Roosevelt rallied a nation in the dark days of the Recession by famously saying.... "The only thing we have to fear.... is fear itself."

Bush took a prosperous nation, respected around the world, and in the wake of 9/11 instead of rallying the nation, he tried to sell.... "You should fear, there is nothing else."

As it turns out, what we most have to fear is the continuing strangle hold of the GOP and The Decider. Our liberation starts in November. Vote fearlessly.

I do hope that we detect some seeds of change this election season. I am looking forward to watching it carefully when I return home at the end of this month.
