The House Listens to the People

Thank you House Majority Leader, Dennis Hastert (R-IL) and the other GOP House leaders who announced today that they will hold off even negotiating a final compromise bill on immigration with the Senate until they have completed field hearings through the month of August on the issue.

Sanity has returned at least to some of our lawmakers who want to look into some of the Senate proposals in the legislation like ALLOWING UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS TO KEEP SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS EARNED WHILE THEY WORKED IN THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY..... with bogus Social Security numbers and/or stolen-identity documents.

The field hearings will also be about forming a "credible strategy and credible plan to secure the borders," according to Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA).

This is a political "slap in the face" to both President Bush and his lackeys from both parties in the Senate. And high time.

The House today has shown they recognize they are the "House of the People," and have heard our concerns. A welcome step in the direction of curbing the national suicide drift of the Bush immigration amnesty policies.

Now, stay the course after the November elections!
